A Foot In The Crease - Episode 2.42

After a three day break to allow Jeff to safely make his way home from a rigorous canoeing trip, Episode 2.42 of AFITC – The Draft Wrap Edition, comes your way today. We start the Redline Report with Leaf Notes discussing the acquisition of Vesa Toskala and Mark Bell. Also we announce the contract extensions of Carlo Colaiacovo, Jay Harrison and the newly signed 2001 CHL player of the year Simon Gamache. Finally we have a look at what the Maple Leafs did at the draft once they got around to making selections in the third round.

The Redline Report continues with an update on the Nashville Predators situation regarding their potential sale to Jim Balsillie. Concluding the opening segment of the show, we have Quick Hits discussing Sergei Samsonov, Claude Julien, Kimmo Timonen, Scott Hartnell, Tomas Vokoun, Scott Walker, Sean O’Donnell, Kent Huskins, JS Giguere and Ray Emery.

On The Bubble features talk of Scott Niedermayer’s potential retirement and another great segment of listener email. Rigamarole looks at the long term impact of the Vesa Toskala deal.

Congratulations go to Brendan Smith, who appeared on Episode 2.41 of AFITC. He was chosen in the 1st round, 27th overall in last Friday’s NHL Entry Draft moving up a staggering 41 places from his final Central Scouting Bureau ranking.
